The honest answer is that no two days are the same, because you are supporting a real person with their own needs and routine. But a typical day is built around the practical things that help a person stay safe, independent and comfortable.
The morning visit: a reassuring start
For many of our Clients, the morning visit is the most important part of the day. It's about getting ready with dignity and not having to rush.
Your visit makes sure that happens. It could involve:
- Helping someone get out of bed safely.
- Assisting with washing, dressing and personal care.
- Making breakfast and a cup of tea.
- Reminding them to take their morning medication.
You are not just there to do tasks. You are there to offer a reassuring presence that sets them up for a good day.
Lunch, company and practical help
Later in the day, you might visit the same Client or a different one. The focus might shift from personal care to companionship and help around the house.
This often looks like:
- Preparing a healthy lunch and making sure they have a drink.
- A bit of light housekeeping, like loading the dishwasher.
- Having a chat about the news or looking at old photographs.
- Noting any changes in their wellbeing in your records.
This is the part of the job that matters most. We make sure you spend at least an hour on each visit, so you have time to build real relationships.
An afternoon helping hand
Some Clients need support getting out and about, or preparing for the evening. Your role might be to help with:
- Picking up a prescription or a few essentials from the shop.
- Accompanying them to an appointment.
- Getting a simple evening meal ready for later.
You are not doing this on your own. You have a rota so you know where you need to be, and the office team is always at the end of the phone. That support is always there.
