What home care actually means
The purpose is simple: you help someone keep living their life, in their own home, on their terms.
You provide one-to-one support for older people, or adults recovering from illness. You drive to their house, spend your scheduled time focusing entirely on them, and help them with their daily routine.
Independence and an agreed rota
This role gives you independence. You spend your day out in your local community, moving between visits.
We agree a rota based on your availability. Whether you are looking for part-time hours, regular weekend work, or a full week, you know exactly when you are working and who you are seeing.
Training and support from day one
You are never thrown in at the deep end. You get a three-day induction to learn how Right at Home works. You are then paired with a buddy. You shadow experienced Care Assistants until you feel entirely confident. If you need advice once you start working independently, our office team is always there by phone or in person.

A Care Assistant helps a Client manage everyday life at home. You support one person at a time, according to their Care and Support Plan. A visit can include:
- Helping prepare a meal
- Support with washing and dressing
- Company and conversation
- Reminding someone to take their medication
- Keeping accurate care records
Personal care is part of the job. Helping someone wash or dress makes a massive difference to their comfort. We train you fully so you can do this safely and respectfully.

What this role requires
- A full UK or EU/EEA driving licence and your own vehicle
- The existing right to work in the UK
- Confident spoken and written English for care records and time with Clients
- Comfort with providing intimate personal care
- Living in or near Stevenage, Bishop's Stortford or Braintree
- Availability for early mornings from 7am, afternoons from 2pm, or evenings from 5pm

Available hours depend on local Client needs and the regular availability you can offer. The team will explain what is currently available during your call.
How much control will I have over my rota?
You agree a regular pattern of availability with the local team. During your call, you can ask how far ahead rotas are issued and how changes are managed.
What training will I get?
You receive training before working independently, with shadowing and support from the team. You can ask about the current induction and training schedule during your call.
What happens after I leave my details?
A member of the local team will call for an informal conversation. You can ask questions and decide whether you wish to continue.
